Awards

Harris Packaging named Small Business of the Year by Fort Worth Chamber of Commerce!
Harris Packaging Corporation won in the 51-150 employee category, and was selected from a field of 83 nominees, 38 applicants and 12 finalists. Each finalist was judged by a panel of Fort Worth Chamber business owners and professionals, some of them past award winners. Top entrepreneurial students from Texas Christian University's Neeley School of Business were also among the judges.

"This year was one of the most competitive we have seen, both in the quality and quantity of applicants," said Jeff Meisner, chairman of the Chamber's Small Business Council and founder/CEO of Skyline DFW Exhibits, winner of the award in 2007. "The fact that these companies are thriving in spite of a difficult economy bodes extremely well for the future of small business in Tarrant County."

Criteria for the award are business growth and performance, sound business strategies and practices, customer service strategies, business challenges, unique and innovative approaches, and community involvement.

Devoted to serving people in need, First Street Methodist Mission provides emergency food, clothing, infant formula, limited financial assistance, and case management services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. Harris Packaging recently donated boxes to the mission and also held an in-house clothes drive.

River Legacy Cardboard Boat Regatta

For many years now, Harris Packaging’s Employees have been participating in the annual Cardboard Boat Regatta in Arlington, Texas which benefits the River Legacy Foundation. Many of our employees dedicate their time and efforts outside of work hours to design and build boats out of corrugated that they will then race at the Regatta. It is a time of the year that everyone at Harris Packaging looks forward to.

Trees Into Cartons, Cartons Into Trees

American Carton Company annually participates in the TICCIT program by donating 450 trees to a local Intermediate School for their 6th grade students, and taught them about sustainability, recycling and the environment.

Partnerships

University of Texas at Arlington

UTA is the only university in Texas partnering with the International Corrugated Packaging Foundation (ICPF). In the unique packaging lab on campus, UTA’s Visual Communication Design program offers curriculum in the structural design of corrugated materials.

Students gain real-world experience in the packaging design industry thanks to Jana Harris, a UTA graduate and co-owner of Harris Packaging Corporation and American Carton Company. Jana Harris and her sister Jenise Cox work closely with the Visual Communication Design program at UTA to provide scholarships and internships to students. Since 2017, Harris has also sponsored a sales competition through the College of Business.

Five UTA graduates are also now full-time employees.

Harvesting in Mansfield Center

Harris Packaging has teamed up with HIMCenter by providing them with boxes for their food pantry. Harvesting In Mansfield is both a food bank and food pantry meaning they serve both clients who go through a simple application process to receive food AND they provide food in bulk (500lbs – 2,500lbs) to over 100 churches and other nonprofit organizations for them to distribute all over North Texas.

Z's Cafe

Through a Fort Worth Chamber event we were introduced to the delicious food of Z's Cafe. After meeting the owners Janet and son Carlo, and learning of their involvement with Samaritan House, we decided to help out by providing their boxed lunch boxes, and in return Z's Cafe has catered several of our in house events. It has been a great partnership! Check out Z's Cafe for any catering needs.
